In Honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month October 25, 2025

Wisdom, Violence, and the Need for Discernment

Domestic violence impacts millions of people globally every hour of every day on an annual basis. One of the most heartbreaking realities is that it continues to increase and is often passed from one generation to the next due to a lack of knowledge and wisdom.

Domestic violence and sexual abuse are over arching terms that include brutality, manipulation, dominance, and control within intimate and family relationships. Abuse can take many forms, including physical abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse, sexual assault, the use of children as leverage, and more.

Many people believe they know how to navigate life adequately. However, bio psycho social worldviews affirm the opposite when it comes to understanding the complexities of human nature.

Knowledge Versus Wisdom

It is possible to have knowledge without wisdom. History shows that many unwise individuals have made decisions that deeply impact the lives of others. Knowledge alone is not enough.

What we need now more than ever is God’s wisdom and understanding to make sound judgments and to discern good from evil in this day and time.

In common language, wisdom is often understood as knowledge, insight, factual information, shrewdness, life experience, and discernment of human nature.

The Limits of Human Understanding

Even the most brilliant minds of yesterday and today are finite. Human understanding can only go so far in acquiring wisdom and knowing how to apply it. To go further, one must seek a Higher Power.

God is infinite and unbound. He knows every relevant and imaginable fact and the outcome of every event. God can provide exactly what is needed in any situation in a nano second.

God is omniscient and all knowing of every person on the globe and throughout the universe. If we do not know the answer, we are invited to ask Him.

Why Divine Wisdom Matters Today

Wisdom is for all people and it works for anyone who uses it.

In these days of deception, trickery, and scams, where people seek to defraud, swindle, and cheat by any means possible, divine wisdom is essential in how we conduct our lives and affairs. Increasingly, individuals must do their own fact checking and deep investigation to reach the truth, especially as artificial intelligence continues to advance and influence daily life.

Wisdom in Every Area of Life

Wisdom applies to every area of life including natural life, spiritual life, science, politics, society, marriage, relationships, and more.

The theme of wisdom was given by the Lord. He knows that not only do I need it, but that the majority of us do as well. This world is becoming more lawless, malicious, and depraved than ever before, and we are no match for it on our own.

All wisdom and all knowledge originate from God the Father. No matter how it is repackaged, rearranged, filtered, or presented, it all comes from Him. God also grants us the ability to understand what He gives.

The Greatest Wisdom of All

The greatest act of wisdom is asking Jesus Christ to come into your life and save you from sin.

Romans 10:9 and 10 reminds us that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
