Even though Berlin wasn’t particularly religious, but one thing he did know and acknowledged through the gift of song, he was thankful to God for America. Berlin and his family were one of thousands of Jewish families who had made it to America by escaping persecution and extermination. Unbeknown to him, in reality “God bless America” was a testimony to the Jewish Jesus he may not have known.
