First occurrence of domestic violence in history was with Cain and Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain a tiller of the ground. Cain became jealousy of Abel because the Lord accepted his offering. “…sin lied at the door…and sin shall rule over you:” Genesis 4: 7b.
The Lord God told Cain that sin was lurking at his heart, and if he didn’t reconsider his thoughts that he would act out what was in his heart. Basically …if you do not change your mind sin will enter in and rule you. And it came to pass when they were in the field Cain and Abel argue and Cain slew his brother. This is the first reported act of domestic violence which was fatal.
You can be angry without sinning. “Be ye angry and sin not.” Ephesians 4:26.
Jesus even became angry and overthrew the money changes in the Temple who were making the house of God a place of merchandise. John 2:15. We can be angry that’s human nature, but violence is a choice.
Violence is about choice- anger does not make a person abusive-it’s a choice to abuse and take advantage of another.
